The Data
The HMS database is binational data set that is unique for a few important reasons. First, it has an extensive array of variables regarding the health and migration histories of household heads, spouses, and their children. Second, these data contain information from respondents on both sides of the border in the U.S. and in Mexico. Finally, and importantly, these data are longitudinal, allowing comparisons of health, migration, and their correlates over time.
